You’ve given your all to, let’s say, your boyfriend (or girlfriend). You’ve sacrificed so much for him - your time, money, love. You have your phone on at all times just so he can call you or text you if he needs you. No, not for when you need him, but for when he needs you. You never get mad at him, of course not. You love him that much. Who cares if he doesn’t call you for a day, a week, a month? That doesn’t change your love for him. All you ever want to do is to love him and for him to love you back. You don’t even need or want anything from him. You do wish greatly that he’d spend time with you…. Sometimes he does and the time spent together is amazing! So much love being exchanged. But after a bit, he disappears. Does his own thing. Doesn’t even text you or call you. Yet. You still. love. him. Sometimes he even hangs out with other girls. You get hurt. but you still love him. He’d rather go clubbing than take you out for a nice dinner. But that’s okay. You forgive him, because you love him that much. Other times, he does things you especially hate. You hate when he smokes, but he does it right in front of you. You hate when he gets drunk, especially around other girls, yet he still does it. And yet you still love him. You forget everything he’s done enough to make you hate him, but your love hasn’t changed from the first moment you’ve loved him.
…..
And this is how God feels about us. This is a mere glimpse of His unconditional love for us.
